Our Story
Sometimes it's the simplest things that have the biggest impact. For Anita and Fahim, it all started with a taco. Food that sparked a friendship built on a shared faith, books, and a love of good restaurants. Along the way, Fahim asked Anita out, to which she said no! Who knew that she was turning down the man of her dreams? But it wasn't long before that undeniable magnetism drew them together and so began the start of something beautiful. A surprise romantic proposal sealed the deal. Fahim gathered both families together at The Chocolate Bar, and after getting down on one knee, he read a heartfelt poem describing their love. He then handed her a carefully chosen ring placed delicately inside a box of chocolates spelling out "Will You Marry Me?" This time, Anita, of course, said yes! Anita and Fahim truly deserve all the happiness they have found in each other, and they would love for you to join them in celebrating their union on the 19th of June 2018. In their own words: We are so excited to start this new chapter in our life. We have never been happier or been more blessed than we have been this year. Thank you for all your love, support, and encouragement. We truly can’t wait to share these moments with all of our family and friends.

Mendhi/Henna Party
Mendhi ceremony usually takes place just before marriage. Traditionally, the Mendhi paste is made from dried powdered henna leaves. Mendhi —or henna—is an ancient form of body art, originating in India and across South Asia and the Middle East. A Mendhi party is the pre-wedding celebration when the bride and her family get mendhi applied in intricate designs that symbolize various blessings, luck, joy, and love.

Pithi Ceremony
The Pithi ceremony is a joyful occasion where family members and friends bless the couple with good wishes by rubbing a haldi paste on the bride and groom’s neck, face, hands, and legs. The paste is made of turmeric (haldi), uptan, saffron, sandalwood powder, herbs, aromatic oils, rose water, and other ingredients. The paste is believed to be an excellent cleanser, providing skin with a glowing effect. There is a modern interpretation to this tradition, where friends and family shower the groom with condiments: ketchup, eggs, flour, and other items to bestow upon him their blessings and good luck.

Sangeet Celebrations
The Sangeet is where the party begins. The word Sangeet translates to ‘sung together’ from Sanskrit. ‘Gaun’, another word used to describe the event, means ‘songs’ or ‘to sing’ in Hindi. This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families. It is here that both sides bring down their barriers and mingle in a fun environment. This celebration includes dances and songs performed by relatives and friends of the Bride and Groom and an open dance floor to commemorate the festivities for the following days.

Gift Registry
Your love, your prayers, your laughter, and your company on this day is the greatest gift you can give, as such the bride and groom humbly request no boxed gifts at the wedding events. A small alternative registry has been set up for those who have expressed an interest in honoring the bride and groom with a gift to mark the occasion. (PASSWORD: snacksizedlove)
